Netflix alert: Best Worst Movie and Troll 2 now available to watch instantly

Browsing through Netflix last night, I discovered that Best Worst Movie is now available on watch instantly.  The documentary details the making of one of the worst movies of all time, the so-bad-it’s-now-a-cult-sensation Troll 2.  What’s even better, Troll 2 itself is also available.

Of particular interest to Kulturblog readers, both BWM and Troll 2 have a Mormon angle.  The hideously/hilariously terrible Troll 2 was filmed near Salt Lake City (mostly in Morgan) by an Italian director (his wife wrote the screenplay), drawing (in part) on their experience of feeling alienated among Utahns.  (In one scene, a crazed store owner even refers to coffee as “the Devil’s drink.”)  Several of the original cast members (each of whom is interviewed in BWM) are LDS, including at least three members of the family at the center of the movie.

The documentary is a really uplifting, entertaining show, and will make you want to watch one of the worst movies ever made, possibly with a group of friends.  Do check it out.
